Bells, whistles and honorable mentions.

Hello fair readers!

How very fitting that the day after the Oscars our very own La de da has been nominated for a little award of her own.

(yes that’s right. my blog has a gender and it’s female)

I am very please to announce that La de da has been nominated to a Salem Press Library Blog award. I’m a little shocked and feel extremely humbled and honored. I’m sure there are a lot of other nominees that probably update more….so THANK YOU fair readers for nominating this here little blog.

I blush.

update:: a friend of mine whose blog I totally love was also nominated. Big props to Erika the badass librarian.

Introducing the Young Librarian Series.

My fellow young librarians and library workers:

I am now accepting submissions for an idea that I have been bouncing around for some time now. The Young Librarian Series is is a multimedia project. The basis is going to be a series of video interviews and guest posts on a blog graciously being hosted at tametheweb blogs. (ty Michael!!) Our themes will be generations in the library and being a Gen Y and young Gen X librarian; our experiences, our triumphs, struggles, cool projects that you might want to highlight and so on.

Items the you might want to consider submitting: generational based posts, library inspired art projects, new media projects, such as videos, podcasts, or a created resource. Really the sky is the limit here and I’m very excited to see what people have to contribute.

The goal of The Young Librarian Series is to provide a sense of community for young librarians. A place for us to collaborate, to center ourselves in the field. To brainstorm. To think. To discuss and empower.

My guidelines are basic: you must be a part of Generation Y or young-ish Gen X, so 40 and under. If you just want to bounce ideas off me and send a proposal, that is more than welcome. I don’t care what font you use. I don’t care if there are one inch margins. I want to hear about your ideas, your experiences. And your fellow young librarians want to hear from you as well.

Please note: If I have spoken to you about doing an interview or contributing, its time to start formulating some ideas. Send me an email with any and all questions.

The email: younglibrarianseries[at]gmail[dot]com

I so look forward to hearing from you and please, lets spread the word.

leah the librarian!

Kind of a big deal.

Hello fair readers!

I love me a good mommy blog.

Does that last lady look like Amy Sedaris or is it just me?

Does that last lady look like Amy Sedaris or is it just me?

I could read Heather Armstrong‘s wonderfully sarcastic wit until the cows come home.  I just find something really great about women harnessing a new(ish) technology in order to create a commons in which other women can either vicariously have children or just relate to their experiences.  Children are weird and amusing.  And of course, that makes for good bloggin’.

So now I would like to introduce you to a new blog, created by my sister.

Adventures in Oscar

Oscar waiting for the bus.

Oscar waiting for the bus.

Colleen is an excellent writer and her baby…well I’m partial because he is my nephew, but let me get you in on this secret….

he’s kind of a big deal.

Seriously. That big.

Seriously. That big.

So get thee over to Adventures in Oscar.  And enjoy another wonderful addition to our blogging family.

Have a wonderful weekend fair readers.

Advice Soup for the Soul

Hello fair readers!

This post is more of a request for advice from fellow bloggers.

Every now and again, I go back and peruse previous blog postings.  And I cannot help but notice little things, or sometimes big things, along the lines of broken images, links to websites that unfortunatly no long exist, and so on.

And here is the life-altering dilemma…..

Do I go back and fix these?  Or leave them broken?

I know.  Huge deal, right?  Totally.

So like I said, bloggers, what do you do?  Do you fix these things when you find them?  Or just assume that people realize links and pictures sometimes just dissapear?

Well have a lovely week fair readers.  Moving day is on Sunday.  Wish me luck. 🙂
